About Design in Wood

Design in Wood was established in 1983.

Richard Burnley took over Design in Wood in 1993 after working with its founder since 1989. He worked in London for 10 years as an architect before becoming a furniture designer and maker and moving to North Yorkshire.

Paul Steel started making furniture and joinery in Otley in 1983 and has worked at Design in Wood since 1991. He has a wide range of experience in traditional and modern cabinet making techniques and architectural joinery.
